[Knoxville Citizen] - Jeremy Pruitt Shares One Consistent Message During Monday Press Conference
Trending in the right direction
Most everyone is in agreement that the Tennessee Football team is trending in the right direction. Are they a team that can be legitimate contenders for the SEC East Title this year?
That's yet to be seen, but there is one general consensus-- They are a dangerous team.
- The Vol's may not make the playoffs this year.
- Tennessee may not win the SEC.
- Or even win the SEC East.
However, they are a team that Georgia, Alabama and Florida will not look past. You can bet that Georgia has their full focus on the Vol's right now because they realize that this Tennessee team has the ability to come into Sanford Stadium and walk away with the upset.
During the press conference today, after a win, after a loss and basically anytime Pruitt speaks in public, Pruitt shares one consistent message.
Pruitt's Consistent Message
It's never settling for good enough. Pruitt has the mindset to build a great program, not a good one. This is why you'll never hear anything from him except statements like the following:
"We have to continue to improve."
"We are not playing up to our potential."
"We ran the same play ten times and only blocked it right four of them."
"There is not a position on our team that doesn't need to get better."
This is an exciting time for Vol's around the world. Thanks to Pruitt and his amazing staff, we get to watch this team learn and grow into an elite program. It's not a question of if, it's when.
The Georgia Game
The Vol's are a 14 point underdog going into Georgia on Saturday, but I don't think Pruitt or the Vol's care. There is no doubt that we will see an improved, prepared and consistent Tennessee team take the field.
The questions is-- Is this the game that solidifies Tennessee as a legitimate SEC Contender or are we will another year or two away?
